Perform shift supervisory duties to include personnel supervisory duties of work review of subordinates, identifying, correcting and/or reporting personnel concerns to department administration, assist in annual responsibility reviews of personnel and other supervisory duties as assigned by the department. Position is also responsible for police patrol of university facilities and grounds, enforcing institutional rules and regulations, city ordinances and state laws. Duties include conducting and writing investigative reports, maintaining traffic regulations and issuing citations, reporting unsafe conditions, checking building security and responding to alarms, protecting life and institutional property and other duties associated with a university police officer position. Performs shift supervisory duties to include personnel supervisory duties of work review of subordinates, identifying, correcting and/or reporting personnel concerns to department administration, assist in annual responsibility reviews of personnel and other supervisory duties as assigned by the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
* North Dakota Peace Officer license or ability to license in North Dakota upon hire
* The equivalent of two years of college in Criminal Justice or a closely related field or 600 hours of police/license/certification accredited training hours with 2 years of law enforcement
* One year equivalent of direct law enforcement supervision of two or more employees
* Experience which may be substituted for the college requirement
* Valid drivers license with no more than three moving violations in the last two years
* Knowledge of the general nature and existence of rules,
procedures and methods related to duties which comprise the
work associated with law enforcement
* Must have left previous law enforcement employment in good standing
* As a part of the post offer/pre-hire, you must pass a polygraph examination; pass a physical exam to include vision, corrected to 20/40; hearing; take a psychological assessment with results satisfactory to NDSU; submit and successfully pass a background check, and must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate your abilities to meet minimum qualifications
* After hire, must pass a weapons written test and shooting course per department standards as a condition of continued employment
* After hire, must successfully complete recruit police officer
training program and successfully complete a one year probationary period as a condition of continued employment
Preferred Qualifications:
* Four year degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field
* Law enforcement experience in a university setting |
